Gape and Laone decided to try and review the cakes and bakes available on campus. We tried the ones from the lady on the side of 247, The Tapas, The Snack Booth, Moghul and Exec. Personally, I love sweets; I'm a sweet tooth so my reviews may be a bit biased- just a tiny bit. I'm always very skeptical of trying out baked goods because most of the time they're just bad and sad. Make sure you share your thoughts and opinions in the comment section down below.

1. Cheesecake
It actually didn't taste much like a regular cheesecake however the black berry filling gave it a very nice taste. I enjoyed the "cheesecake" but also, I wish the strawberry decoration was more fresh- it was old and wrinkly so to speak.

2. Cake
To be honest, they have really nice cakes but I am personally not a fan of their flavour mixes because on some days, I just want to have 100% chocolate cake. Their flavour mix idea is innovative and all but I wish they had more variety and that there was an option for one-flavour cakes. In addition, it is as if they do not remove the camarelisation from their cakes so the cakes have a somewhat chewy/slightly crunchy taste in some bites. Nonetheless, the cakes are nice, soft and fluffy. The buttercream is sweet and tastes just like your regular Choppies cake cream. I on the other hand would not jump for an exec cake. I agree its often nice and fluffy but sometimes it tends to be dense and hard to swallow. Its also quite a greasy cake; you can tell that oil was used as the base of the cake. It is still quite enjoyable though, especially on a day when you have a nagging sweet tooth.

3. Cream Scone
As for this? It was all the good things together. It was creamy and absolutely delectable. It went so well with coffee and hit all the right places. The black cherry was truly the cherry on top! 100% recommend.

4. Cream Doughnut
I like my donuts warm and soft but I guess it had to be cold so the cream filling wouldn't melt. Since it was cold, the donut was a bit hardened- I really wish it was squishy and soft. In conclusion, I would say it was just okay. Its definitely not for me.

5. Chocolate Doughnut
Nothing to go crazy about to be honest. It was just mid. I really like how the doughnut looks. I will admit, I get it because its attractive. The doughnut itself is very soft and fluffy and its not too sweet. However, I'm not a big fan of the chocolate icing; it tasted like the sweetness was meant to cover up the imitation chocolate taste.

6. Melting Moments
I really liked this one. It was fluffy and buttery- it was teww good chile. It wasn't really easy to swallow but I honestly didn't mind the little choke factor. Moreover, its not small and I really liked that.

7. Swiss Roll
It was good. The sponge was really sponging- soft and fluffy. I liked the black cherry filling however, I feel that it made the swiss roll way too sweet; sickeningly sweet. In addition, the sugar granules sprinkled on the swiss roll really threw me off- they added an unecessary crunch.

Glazed Donut
This is the only dessert I've had from Moghul and I wasn't expecting much however, I was really impressed. The donut was soft, squishy and sweet and I enjoyed it. I'm not really a big fan of donuts but this would definitely be my go-to if I'm having cravings. It was reaaaally good!

1. "Blueberry" Muffin
First of all, I don't get why they decided to call this thing a blueberry muffin when its literally just a queen cake from Spar that has blue/black swatches on top. I've had a blueberry muffin before and this was nothing like it. If it were an actual blueberry muffin, I would have found blueberry splatters and skin inside the muffin but there was nothing. In addition, The muffin looked burnt and was a bit hard and not soft.

2. Cake
I think they only ever serve chocolate cake so that is what I had. It was good except for the buttercream being way too sweet- I would feel a bit woozy and I had to take a break time and again because of how it was sickeningly sweet.

The Tapas
From the Tapas, we only tried their cakes which went for P20 each- the slices are quite big.

1. Chocolate Cake
I was very excited to try the Tapas cake but the excitement was quickly erased by dissapointment. We tasted their chocolate cake and it was quite oily, this particular factor led to it having a texture that makes it taste undercooked and melt away in the mouth. Aside from this, the flavours were well balanced. The cake and cream weren't unbearably sweet.

2. Red Velvet Cake
I tried the red velvet cake and the top layer (the one with sprinkles) was really good however the other 2 layers tasted undercooked. In addition, it was as if too much red food colouring was added to the cakes thus giving them a bitter taste. The cream was the only source of sweetness so its like it was used to mask the bitterness. I love red velvet cake and from what I know, it is made with cocoa powder and a bit of red food colouring. With that being said, it wasn't a well done red velvet cake. It tasted like a cake with a lot of red food colouring. I anticipate that the quantity of the red food colouring is the reason why I got "red diarrhoea". I was honestly so dissapointed.

247
I've had the cakes from the lady by 247 quite some time ago but I didn't manage to document all the ones I tried. I have forgotten the costs but I sure do remember how they tasted.
1. Chocolate Cupcake
It was small and quite delightful. A bit too sweet but still enjoyable.
Rating: 9/10
2. Carrot Cake
I remember the time I wanted to buy the cake, Gape warned me against it but I decided to be positive and while I was eating the cake there was a sense of bitterness to it. There were some chunky bits in the cake that were very bitter, I couldn't even finish it. I didn't eat it immediately so the cream was very greasy by the time I ate the cake. I definitely never want to eat it again.

3. Red Velvet Cake in a Cup
As I have already mentioned, I love red velvet cake but this really dissapointed me. The cake was very bitter and the cream was abnormally sweet as if it was trying to make up for the bitterness of the cake.
I have had the red velvet cake from the Tapas, and it had a bitter taste and the cream was too sweet.
I'd have the Exec cake everyday if I could
I’ve had the cream scone and it wasn’t all that. it was a bit stale and hard to stab
