We have a new eatery replacing The Deli at student centre and they go by the name "The Snack Booth". Here are Gape and Laone's thoughts and opinions; be sure to leave your own in the comments down below.
Expectations & First Impressions
When The Snack Booth first came in I expected a lot because they are somewhat picturesque and came in like they are a better version of The Deli.
Pros & Cons
What I like about the snack booth is that they show their menu in a very nice and innovative manner- on an interactive media slideshow via a televison. The only problem is that I have to wait for the slide with the item I want to purchase if I want to look at the price. Its also nice that they offer a variety of items that one wouldn't normally find at student centre, for example, they have icecream, cake, coffee, corndogs, mocktails and iced coffee. However, i'm not a big fan of them because of most of the low quality food I've had from them. I've tried their "blueberry" muffin and it was such an absolute scam. The cake was good but the cream was too sweet.
The worst thing I've had from them is their burger and chips combo which goes for P23. I had had their chips before and they tasted very weird; they were squishy and had a somewhat dark colour- they looked a bit like raw shrimp. Despite this, I went on to purchase their chips again and they were just awful. Its so frustrating when people suck at making chips- I was so dissapointed. Even people who can't cook altogether have the ability to make a proper batch of chips. Their chips were rubbery and chewy. The first time, I thought I was at fault for not salting them well but no, the truth is that their chips aren't good. The burger wasn't too bad. My problem is the chunky raw onion they had inside; it really threw me off.
I have only had the fries and coffee from the snack booth and all I can say is that the deli that was there before did the fries best! The snack booth customer service is also on the lacking side. Its not somewhere I'd be eager to get my breakfast honestly.
The Final Score
Overall, I would give them a 5/10 since I am still yet to try other items on their menu.
I rate them a generous 3.5/10 for their affordable prices.
